Patrick was looking to have 2 beautiful cane back chairs painted and reupholstered. He contacted me via Twitter. A funny story for another day...let's just say (and he knows this :)) that I kinda got a tad worried, and made him email before I would agree to talk via phone, and then made him meet me at Newburgh Vintage Emporium. But, glad I went with what my instincts were telling me...he's a fantastic person with a big heart! I mean when you receive a text on Mother's Day from a newish client to just say Happy Mother's Day...that's pretty thoughtful & it put a big smile on my face!
He was also looking for a specific size dresser. The items would be going in his guest bedroom they were making over so he needed something not too big, but decent storage.
We met up for me to pick up the chairs, and for him to take a look at the dresser I had available....at Newburgh Vintage Emporium :)
A couple of meetings of talking color, picking up the material for the chairs, and final sign off...we were off to the races.
I even brought my helper to make sure the planning was going according to plans... She means serious business and keeps me inline!
Patrick wanted to incorporate the fabric going on the chairs onto his dresser. He had seen a dresser I had done with fabric on the drawers and wanted to do the same. I used the original hardware from the dresser and sprayed them with gold metallic paint (blotting them to incorporate a little vintage flair).
The paint colors we picked were Hydrangea Flowers for the top of the dresser, and Ivory Tower for the sides, top drawer and chair all by Benjamin Moore. He wanted a nice sleek look so I went with the Advance line.
I painted the detailed flowers on the sides with the coral color and then distressed them back a little to show the white through.
Just so gorgeous and sleek!! I'm a fan!
The colors we choose were going with a color palette he has chosen from a quilt set he picked up...
I can't wait to see the room when it is completely finished and ready to go! Patrick has amazing tastes and knows what he likes (it helps). He's a fun client to work with.
He loves the pieces and that makes my job that much more enjoyable. Stay tune for the desk and side table makeover, and then a full reveal of the room!
Much love, peace & happiness!
